Vietnam, EU share experiences in trade protection

tom1.jpgLeading international trade experts from the EU and Vietnam staged a seminar on November 11 in the southern province Binh Duong discussing fair trade practices and protection measures.

The seminar, co-organised by the European Trade Policy and Investment Support Project (EU-MUTRAP) and the Vietnam Competition Authority (VCA), addressed anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and dispute resolution, among others issues.

Speakers at the event said that through October, there have been 47 anti-dumping investigation lawsuits filed against Vietnamese enterprises, which have negatively impacted key exports such as tra, basa, shrimp and footwear.

They discussed the three trade protection ordinances that Vietnam has enacted but cautioned the legal framework is still incomplete.

Nguyen Phuong Nam, VCA deputy head pointed out the need to disseminate information on the importance of trade protection measures to local businesses in the industrial parks.
