President presents decisions on ambassador appointment

On July 4, President Tran Dai Quang presented the decisions on appointing 20 Vietnamese ambassadors overseas for the 2016-2020 term.

President Quang asked the ambassadors to effectively implement three external affairs tasks as set out at the 12th National Party Congress.

The tasks include maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, maximizing external resources for national development, being resolute in defending the nation, and improving Vietnam’s prestige.

The State leader asked them to focus on citizen protection and overseas Vietnamese affairs.

He expressed his belief that the diplomats, with their experience, will successfully fulfil their tasks assigned by the Party and State, thus contributing to national construction and defence.

Duong Chi Dung, Ambassador and head of Vietnam’s permanent delegation to the UN, the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and other international organisations in Geneva, on behalf of the diplomats, pledged to stay active in building a peaceful environment and making the most of foreign resources to help boost the country’s international integration and national socio-economic development./.
