PM passes Dung Quat Oil Refinery upgrading project

The Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a project by Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) to upgrade and broaden Dung Quat Oil Refinery in the central province of Quang Ngai, said the plant operator Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited on December 20.

The project has been assessed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and other relevant agencies. The Prime Minister also tasked PVN to examine and complete specific contents.

In related news, the Prime Minister has decided to supplement Nhon Hoi Oil Refinery project to the Vietnam’s oil and gas development plan at a total capacity of 20 million ton crude oil a year. The project is expected to complete by 2021-2025. The project has been listed as special encouragement of investment with a lot of tax incentives.

He instructed the People’s Committee of the central province of Binh Dinh to guide the project’s investor to implement it, establish an environment impact assessment report and front end engineering design, timely handle issues arising in the implementation process, and report the PM problems not falling within their competence.
