Connection Between Businesses and Farmers in Production and Consumption of Rice
With the aim to evaluate the results of implementing the decision no.606 dated Jan. 21st 2015 of the Industry-Trade ministry on the roadmap for building raw material zones, in the afternoon of July 29th, at Vietnam-Korea Incubator Park, Cần Thơ city’s Industry-Trade department organized the congress to connect businesses and farmers in production and export of 2016-2017 winter-spring rice crop.

There are 20 out of 24 rice export enterprises in Cần Thơ city which engage in the plan for building raw material zone under the area of 52,950 ha.
In spite of the assurance of consumption and price for rice farmers and settled raw material source for businesses, the process of connection and consumption still faces certain challenges, mainly disagreements in contracts between businesses and farmers.
On the other hands, businesses are in shortage of technologies, transport and preservation means.
At the congress, delegates suggested enhancing connection in the model of co-ops, ensuring quality of goods.
Businesses also proposed the government and localities generate conditions on capital sources, preferential incentives, upgrade irrigation system./.
