Thailand earned 840 billion baht (24 billion USD) from export of food in 2016, making the country the biggest food exporter in ASEAN and 12th in the world, according to the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce.

Rice, processed chicken, canned aquatic products, semi-cooked and frozen shrimp and sauce were key items contributing to the growth.
The value of Thai food exports is projected to grow by eight percent in 2017 to 26 billion USD thanks to more value-added food items and higher global demand.
The government has targeted the world’s hub for food development and research as well as food innovations to sell higher-value food abroad.
