VN, US discuss measures to complete TPP negotiations
Viet Nam actively cooperates with the US and other nations to accelerate the completion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement negotiations.
Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh made that statement at his meetings with Chairman of the US House of Representatives’ Committee for Finance Ron Wyden and Chairman of the Senate’s Budget Committee David Camp during his ongoing official visit to the US.
The Deputy PM announced Viet Nam’s socio-economic situations and diplomatic policies, affirming that Viet Nam attaches importance to the cooperative relations with the US under the framework of the bilateral strategic partnership established by President Truong Tan Sang and President Obama last July.
The Deputy PM proposed the US take a flexible approach when it comes to a transitional period needed by Viet Nam and provide technical assistance for the country in realizing TPP commitments.
At these meetings, the US leaders appraised Viet Nam’s determination in the TPP negotiations, approving that Viet Nam needs a transition period to meet TPP’s criteria.
In addition, he exchanged with these US leaders about issues of mutual concerns./.
