VNPT to deploy AAE-1 submarine cable
Vietnam’s international connectivity will be improved once the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT)’s internet service via the Asia-Africa-Europe-1 (AAE-1) is offered in July.

The AAE-1 is the fifth international cable system that VNPT has been a part of constructing. The system will enhance the country’s internet bandwidth and ease burden on submarine fiber optic cables.
The AAE-1 is a 25,000 kilometre consortium cable system connecting Southeast Asia to Europe via Egypt.
It connects Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand with Malaysia and Singapore then onwards to Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Yemen, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Greece, Italy and France.
The cable system deploys state-of-the-art 100 Gbps transmission technology with minimum design capacity of 40 Tbps.
The AAE-1’s construction began in 2014 by prominent global service providers, including British Telecom (Britain), China Unicom (China), Chuan Wei (Cambodia), Omantel (Oman), PCCW Global (Hong Kong), VNPT and Viettel (Vietnam).
Vietnam currently operates three undersea cable routes, SMW-3 landing in Da Nang, AAG landing in Vung Tau and APG landing in Da Nang./.
